An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia tried to fight back tears as she shared her horrifying experience from her employer.
In an interview by Bombo Radyo, the OFW who chose to remain anonymous worked for two months as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia because she couldn’t stand the abuse of her employer. She felt like she was a prisoner in her employer’s home, as she was not allowed to go outside or take a day off. She was forced to eat leftovers and sometimes he would strip her off her clothes.
She escaped her employer’s home, bringing only a piece of underwear and clothing, and sought help from the Philippine Embassy.
When she arrived, however, she witnessed the stories of other OFWs who are far off worse than she is. Furthermore, she has noticed that the embassy has not properly given them donations.
