Six baggage handlers in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) 3 have been suspended following a surprise inspection, which discovered stolen items from passengers’ bags in their workplace lockers.
Pieces of jewelry, wristwatches, blankets and padlocks were found in the workers’ lockers, prompting the MIAA general manager to express his alarm over the issue.
As precaution from looting, some passengers opted to have their luggage wrapped in plastic before proceeding to the check-in counter.
MIAA is proposing a spot inspection on the premises of baggage handlers and ground handlers to make sure looting is prevented.
