An OFW in Jeddah owes P3 million in hospital bills which prevent him from being discharged and repatriated.
The incident has prompted civil society organization Blas F. Ople Center on June 8 to appeal for Restituto Galigao, who is confined in the Dr. Erfan and Bagedo General Hospital.
While the Philippine government is negotiating a discounted bill, the hospital is unable to provide a “substantial discount.”
Galigao suffered a cardiac arrest at his friend’s house and was admitted to the hospital in November. Galigo is in an out of comatose as of this writing.
Each day Galigao’s bill is up by 1,500 Saudi Riyals or PHP17,690. As of March 24, he has an outstanding debt of 222,314.45 Saudi Riyals or PHP2.62 million.
Despite the appeal, the Department of Foreign Affairs advised the Galigao family to seek assistance from charitable institutions or individuals.
