A 50-year-old Filipino scheduled to fly to Riyadh was taken into custody at Ninoy Aquino International Airport following a bomb scare.
Daisy David Medallon was about to board the Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Riyadh at NAIA Terminal 2 when she was caught by police on August 9.
Philippines’ Director of Aviation Security Group Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas said during the check-in procedures, Janette Murate, who was manning the counter, advised David to remove some of her stuff due to excess baggage. David was unwilling, saying she had a bomb, which can blow up the plane. She was ignorant that making bomb-related jokes is a criminal offense.
David was supposed to fly to Riyadh to visit her husband in Saudi Arabia, but she is not allowed to leave the country as she will face a five-year jail term and a hefty fine if she is found guilty.
