It was not the returning overseas Filipino worker’s (OFW) ideal way of coming home when her money was stolen while undergoing X-ray screening at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The 39-year-old Elenita Casim disclosed in a complaint filed with the Police Intelligence and Investigation Division of NAIA’s police department that she arrived in the Philippines on September 23 on a connecting flight to General Santos City. She accidentally left her backpack at the Terminal 4 security X-ray around 7p.m.
The back pack contained two years’ worth of her savings, electronic gadgets, her passport, tickets, and other important work documents.
The CCTV footage showed two airport security screeners who were able to recover Casim’s backpack. They placed the backpack on top of the airport X-ray machine. Meanwhile, Casim was unable to retrieve her luggage when she returned to the airport X-ray machine.
Airport police investigators are now coordinating with the Office of Transport Security to determine the identity of the OTS personnel in the airport X-ray machine.
Casim also filed a formal complaint at the Pasay Prosecutor’s Office.
