Hong Kong – An OFW is under a critical condition after falling in the balcony of her employer’s flat in Shatin, Hong Kong last Oct 22.
According to reports, 49-year old Filipina, Baylon, is working as a domestic helper in the said country. She was rushed directly to the hospital in Shatin after being unconscious. She is now under observation at the Prince of Wales Hospital located in Shatin. Luckily, Baylon was instantly found by their neighbor and was rushed to the hospital.
According to the initial interview, there were no signs of foul play regarding the said incident. The police officers classified it as “fall from height”. But according to her close friends, Baylon is having a hard time with her work and she is not that happy there.
Though there are still no official statement regarding the incident, because Baylon is still unconscious, authorities are taking a keen eye in the investigation of the incident. They could not also provide further details about the incident.
Malaysian consulate, is also providing proper assistance to Baylon and her family in the Philippines has been already informed.
There are already a growing number of OFW’s residing permanently in Hong Kong, maybe because of the close ties of Hong Kong and Philippines ever since the old days. Unluckily, there are unfortunate cases of OFW’s being treated differently by their employers. But because of the strong effort of the Hong Kong government to eradicate this cruel employers.
