A recently released video footage released by Lawin Law Office showed the baggage of American Lane Michael White after his baggage underwent an X-ray scanning in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
White was approached by a screening officer named Marvin Garcia. The video showed Garcia opening the zipper of White’s bag before putting it aside.
A few seconds later, another officer from the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) named Maria Elmacena opened the zipper of the bag’s pocket before patting it inside. The two officers continue to open the bag and take out a few items.
White’s lawyers believe that the officers have placed the bullet inside the bag at that point of inspection.
Atty. Jasper Balboa indicated that there were lapses during the inspection, which includes a lack of search sticks.
White’s lawyers have already filed a case against the two OTS officers in the National Bureau of Investigation for planting evidence. They will also use the video as evidence to dismiss the charges of possession of illegal ammunition against the American.
In OTS’ initial statement in September, they insisted that all inspections were made in front of the passenger, so they had no opportunity to place the bullet in the baggage.
White and his family already want to go home due to the trauma from the incident.
However, they plan to return to the Philippines for the missionary White to build a church in Palawan.
Department of Transportation and Communications secretary Emilio Abaya regarding the incident.
However, he did insist that there is no syndicate behind the ‘laglag-bala’ modus. The incident is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, a Vietnamese woman was arrested after OTS officers found a bullet inside her shoulder bag. She admitted she owns the bullet, and was not aware that it was illegal to bring bullets in the airport.
The bullet came from one of her customers who told her the bullet will bring her good luck.
