Annaliza Datiles Carpacio was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt upon violating human trafficking act of the Philippines after allegedly recruiting four Filipina woman that unfortunately became sex workers abroad. The four women were victimized by illegal recruitment and they ended up in Malaysia and Brunei.
The fellow Filipina, Annaliza Datiles Carpacio was sentenced a total of 20 years of imprisonment. She is also obliged to pay a total amount of P1 Million as fine, P500,000 as moral damages for her victims and additional P50,000 each victim for exemplary damage.
According to the Commission on Filipino Overseas, Carpacio was able to recruit these 4 women which includes a minor, promising to help them work abroad as waitress in Singapore. They used Zamboanga as their backdoor to avoid the immigration procedures in Singapore. They reached Malaysia by boat, some of the 4 women remained in Malaysia while others were brought to Brunei as prostitutes and not waitresses.
Fortunately, they were able to escape and seek help from the Philippines Embassy. They were brought back to the Philippines and Carpacio tried to negotiate with them. Through the effort of the National Bureau of Investigation and the cooperation of the victims, Carpacio was nabbed during the entrapment operation and was charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking law.
