A netizen shared a shocking story she had overheard while riding the jeepney.
Eya Villarin shared she was riding the jeepney, seated across a freshman Maritime student from University of Perpetual Help.
The student bragged to his companion that he managed to steal P45,000 from his parents are overseas Filipino workers—his mother in Hong Kong and his father in Saudi Arabia. He said his parents gave him a total of P75,000 for his full tuition fee, but he said he only paid the school P25,000.
His companion borrowed P5,000 from him, so now he has P45,000 left. Asked what he was going to do with the money, the braggart said that he would use it to check in at some hotel with his girlfriend.
Villarin was angry at the conversation but chose to keep her cool, Instead, she posted the photo and the story on Facebook. The post earned 1,900 likes, with mostly angry reactions from netizens who think that parents’ hard-earned money should not be taken advantage of.
Villarin has taken down his post, but netizens have screencapped her post and have continued to share the story in their social media accounts.
