Filipinos are indeed kind-hearted. Wherever they are, they make sure to help the needy ones with all their might. Just like the story of this Fil-Canadian man who transforms leftover foods into something edible.
Danison Buan lives in New Westminster B.C and works in a restaurant for years. Because of his experience when it comes to restaurant food, he knew that a lot of edible and good food just goes to trash.
The project “Re-Food” goes to his mind. Thrice a week, he goes to local supermarket to ask for unsold food that will just be thrown away. From the unappealing food into something edible, these foods goes to charities as smoothies or something to be cook with.
Aside from the help he can give to charities, he also was able to save each supermarket from the hefty compost fees.
For this month, Buan aims to raise a 50-50 ratio or $50,000 for 50,000 meals.
