More than 100 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia are struggling to find ways of going home in the Philippines.
They were held in Saudi Arabia, even though they have no pending cases. Some of these OFWs’ contracts have already expired in 2015, and they were not given any exit visa, not even salary.
The Saudi government ordered for the closure of their company due to labor issues.
The OFWs resort to eating once a day and relying on help from fellow Filipinos. They also asked for help from their respective agencies in the Philippines, but the pleas fell on deaf ears.
According to the Philippines Overseas Employment Administration, an agency is already working on bringing home the stranded OFWs by next month. According to POEA, they will first bring home those who first arrived in Saudi Arabia.
They are also investigating the recruitment agencies to discover if there was lack of action in the OFWs’ please.
