Crisanto Astudillo is at a loss on how to find his wife, Edelyn.
It had been seven months since he couldn’t get in touch with his wife, who flew to Saudi Arabia to work.
Edelyn last contacted Crisanto on April 2015. His wife was crying, and he could hear her employer yelling at her in the background.
Three months later, Crisanto received PHP50,000 for five months’ worth of Edelyn’s service.
On December 2015, Edelyn’s employer called Crisanto, informing him that his wife ran away. However, Crisanto had a hunch that Edelyn was being hidden away and abused.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is currently investigating Manumoti Agency, the agency that deployed Edelyn to Saudi Arabia. Anti-Illegal Recruitment Director Atty. Rosemarie Duquez said the agency has an accountability in POEA. In the event they are discovered to show neglect, they will be charged administratively.
POEA is set to summon the recruitment agency. In the meantime, Crisanto calls for help in finding his missing wife.
