An OFW returned to Hong Kong for work matters, but she was welcomed by police authorities just after she landed at Hong Kong International Airport.
OFW domestic helper Imelda A.C decided to go back to Hong Kong so she can work again for a new employer. But instead of feeling happy she was saddened to know that she had a pending case in Hong Kong over alleged theft.
Imelda is charged of theft after allegedly stealing diamonds from her previous employer, precisely a diamond pendant and diamond ring. The stolen items had an estimated value of HK$40,000 (P238,302).
According to Imelda’s lawyer, she was forced to steal the jewelries because her father got sick in the Philippines. Her relatives then asked for help but she didn’t have money to sustain the medical needs of her father. She then committed the crime and pawned the jewelries to the local pawnshop just for HK$6,000. She then sent the money to the Philippines.
After committing the crime, she returned to the Philippines. Without knowledge that her employer actually discovered the missing jewelries, they’ve contacted police authorities. The stolen jewelries were found in the pawnshop.
Imelda eventually got arrested after her arrival in Hong Kong just this month.
