The Criminal Court in Dubai sentenced a man from Sierra Leone to a year behind bars for robbing a Filipina and forcing her to strip inside her bedroom.
The court sentenced the 28-year-old man of theft for entering a house without permission, as well as shaming.
The man, who was also ordered deported, was reported to be drunk when he committed the crime on December 18, 2014. He was also facing an alcohol-related charge before the Misdemeanors Court.
The man was able to take away Dhs400 (PHP5,000) in cash and a necklace worth Dhs70 (PhP880) from a 25-year-old Filipina. He also stole a laptop belonging to the Filipina’s roommate.
The Filipina testified in court that the man ordered her to undress while he was in the middle of the robbery. She managed to escape by running to an adjacent room and locking its door.
While the man was able to escape, he was eventually arrested on January 24, 2015 when he tried to abuse and rob an Estonian flight attendant.
The police were able to identify him as the one who robbed the Filipina through his fingerprints.
