Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte has issued a warning to all Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) employees to stop ‘tanim bala’ operations lest they be fired.
Currently leading the partial and unofficial presidential polls, Duterte is set to sit in office under the highest position in the land.
For months, some local and foreign passengers passing through NAIA are being forbidden to board their flights after security officers find bullets in their luggage. Some claimed that the officers ask them for money so they could board their flight without incident. The unlucky ones are even arrested.
Some victims include one overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was fired due to the allegations, and several senior citizens who were supposed to fly out for medical treatment.
People have long demanded action from the Aquino administration, but while investigations were done, no resolution came out of it.
