Filipinos planning to work overseas as household service workers have been advised of individuals illegally recruiting workers for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said the recruiters promise their victims jobs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as domestic workers.
Cacdac issued the warning after two OFWs hired as domestic helpers in Dubai were offloaded at Clark International Airport after being found to be illegally recruited.
He also narrated that two more Filipino maids who were deployed overseas by leaving in Tawi-Tawi and passing through Sabah and Malaysia were recently repatriated from Abu Dhabi after being undergoing abuses by their employers.
Cacdac urged the public to be attentive against illegal recruitment activities in their communities. Any illegal recruitment or human trafficking activities should be reported immediately.
The POEA chief noted that they have already forewarned other member agencies of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), namely the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Justice, Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, and the Manila Internatio
