To protect the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers, the government of the Philippines directed all recruitment agencies to prepare and submit a detailed quarterly report stating the actual condition of the Filipinos that they have successfully deployed to foreign countries.
Hans Leo Cacdac, administrator of POEA, said that the said move is to ensure that the agencies would cover their obligation of ensuring the welfare and safety for each of their recruits. Furthermore, these private recruitment sectors has an obligation to protect OFWs and that is under the POEA Memorandum Circular No. 03.
In addition to the quarterly reports, agencies are also obliged to report in a matter of 5 days once an OFW dies, gets injured, suffers detention, unauthorized desertion, missing or if an OFW runs away.
It is advised by POEA Administrator to also assign counsellor for the fast implementation of this ordinance.
The said call is part of the implementation of the revised POEA Rules and Regulations for every Filipino Workers.
