Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) to three years in jail for drug peddling.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah directed the man to pay a fine of QR200,000 (PHP2.6 million) and ordered for his deportation after serving his sentence.
The court also found the man guilty of using his accommodation to trade in illicit drugs. The man sold and consumed amphetamine in his house.
The Drug Prevention Department at the Ministry of Interior received a tip from their sources about the defendant’s suspicious activities in Doha’s Mansoura area.
The undercover source approached the defendant. The two parties agreed that the source would buy some drugs from the defendant for QR950 (PHP12,259).
The source then followed the defendant to his apartment at the designated time to get the drugs, after which police raided and searched the place. Police found contraband, along with some tools. The defendant admitted to owning and circulating drugs.
