After the heartfelt pleas of wives of OFWs in Saudi Arabia, Predisent Rodrigo Duterte committed to provide as much help as possible to repatriated OFWs in Saudi. Those stranded OFWs will also receive assistance for their immediate home coming in the Philippines.
A total of 128 OFWs were welcomed by Duterte and provided P5,000 each OFW. The lost of jobs were due to the weakening of Saudi’s economy.
Various government loans were also offered to the OFWs so they can start a small business in the Philippines.
The President also vowed to welcome those OFWs who are in desperate situation in the Malacanang palace. He also added that if anyone of them experience hunger, calling him is certainly alright.
”Maghintay-hintay lang kayo. Bigyan mo lang ako ng konting pahanon, ayusin ko ang ekonomiya at may opportunity for you to work here,”
More OFWs are expected to come home and Duterte promised to secure the economy of the Philippines so that more job opportunities will open up in the near future.
A delegation team was also sent by President Duterte in Saudi for the fast repatriation process.
An estimated 9,000 overseas workers are expected to come home to the Philippines due to the weakening oil prices in Saudi Arabia.
