Mary Jane Veloso has been fighting for her life for the past few years after being involved in a drug trafficking activity and with the help of the Government of the Philippines, she was able to get through up to this time. But now, it seems like she was out of luck after President Rodrigo Duterte gave the “go-ahead” signal for the execution of Veloso.
In a tweet by Indonesia Correspondent Adam Harvey, President Duterte already gave the go signal for the execution of Mary Jane Veloso after the two Presidents met for a working visit last week.

On the other hand, Widodo was able to explain the reason upon the case of Veloso. She was found carrying 2.6 kilograms of alleged heroin in the airport of Yogyakarta Airport last 2010. Previously, her execution was set last 2015.
“Follow your own laws”
Malacañang, meanwhile, clarified reports that Duterte gave the Indonesian government the “go-ahead” to execute Veloso, saying what Duterte told Indonesian President Joko Widodo during their meeting was to “follow your own laws.”
“Follow your own laws. I will not interfere,” presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella quoted Duterte as telling Widodo during a news briefing.
Abella said Duterte had no categorical statement telling Widodo to push through with the execution.
“There was none. There was no endorsement. He simply said, ‘Follow your own laws,'” he said.
National Union of People’s Lawyers are also mum about the issue. According to them, they can’t release their side until an indubitable A1 Confirmation was released from Malacanang and the Indonesian Government.
Furthermore, President Duterte had a closed door meeting with Veloso upon his arrival in Indonesia and the details of the meeting is controversial.
After the ASEAN Summit, President Duterte went directly to Indonesia for his working visit with President Widodo and he also promised to intercede Veloso’s case but the final decision is not in his hands.
