Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia took to social media and begged for help from the Philippine government, as they asserted they were not receiving proper wages and were purportedly being held by their employer.
In the Facebook account Migrante Al Khobar – Eastern Region KSA, one OFW said their employer had no plans to allow him to go home. The women also claimed that they were not allowed to talk with Philippine officials.
Migrante International Chairman Gary Martinez said that there may have been a mix-up between the Philippine government and the Saudi Arabia employers.
The employer has since promised to pay the employees and refer them to other available jobs in the country. However, the OFWs rejected the offer and chose to go home to the Philippines instead. A date for repatriation has yet to be announced.
