The economic stability of Canada has attracted many OFW especially because of their rising minimum wage salary which vary by province. It is the right of every OFW to know the designated Minimum Hourly Wage by Province applicable as of 1st of October, 2016.
Province:
- Alberta – $12.20
Since October 1, the minimum wage has gone to $12.20 and it is expected to rise by $13.60 per hour by 2017 and $15 by 2018.
- British Columbia – $10.85
By September of 2017, the minimum wage per hour is expected to go up to $11.25.
- Manitoba – $11.00
The minimum wage in Manitoba is $11.00 per hour and is applicable to all employees regardless of their number of hours and age (students and part-timers).
- New Brunswick – $10.65
By 2017, employees in New Brunswick is expected to receive minimum wage of $10.65 to $11.00 and will rise based on the Consumer Price Index.
- Newfoundland & Labrador – $10.50
As of 1st of October, 2015, employees should be paid $10.50 per hour as their minimum wage.
- Northwest Territories – $12.50
Effective by 1st of October this year, the minimum salary in Northwest Territories is $12.50 but there are no expected adjustments as per the Consumer Price Index.
- Nova Scotia – $10.70
Every 1st of April, the minimum salary is adjusted as per Consumer Price Index.
- Nunavut – $13.00
This year, the minimum salary in Nunavut is $13.00 and is adjusted every 1st of April.
- Ontario – $11.40
As of this year, the minimum wage in Ontario is $11.40.
- Prince Edward Island – $11.00
As of this year, the minimum wage in Prince Edward Island is $11.00.
- Quebec – $10.75
Since May 1 of 2016, the minimum wage in Quebec is $10.75 and is subject to change anytime.
- Saskatshewan – $10.75
Starting October 1st this year, the minimum wage in Saskatshewan is $10.75 and will rise every year based on the Consumer Price Index.
- Yukon – $13.00
Every 1st of April, the minimum wage to all employees are adjusted based on the Consumer Price Index.
