“Botika ng Bayan” aims to provide affordable medicines to the poor and needy. This pharmacy was first launched last 2005 but was closed for several reasons.
Now, as what President Duterte promised during the election period, “Botika ng Bayan” is revived through the funds from PAGCOR. The government also ensures that every municipality can have at least one “Botika ng Bayan” to render help more effectively.
It is said that there will be more than 16,350 “Botika ng Bayan” outlets to serve the people around the country. All funds from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will go to the medicines in the “Botika ng Bayan”. The socio-civic fund from PAGCOR amounting to P5 billion will be used to revive the said pharmacy.
President Duterte made a promise that health sector will be one of his top priority.
