When travelling we must secure our baggage but sometimes we couldn’t avoid incidents to occur.
Lourdes Ambani, OFW from Qatar and a victim of this incident. She lost her hand-carry luggage from Cebu Pacific’s Flight Iloilo-Manila last October 2016. Her hand-carry contained valuable items that she had worked hard for. She still has the claim stub of her bag but when she arrived in Manila her bag was nowhere to be found.
According to her, one of the airline’s staff got her hand-carry bag. The said airline will pay for the loss with the amount of P17,400 but this is without any investigation and knowledge of what are the things inside the bag.
“We offer compensation to Ms. Lourdes Ambani based on the maximum limit of liability of the carrier for domestic flights as stated in the Air Passenger Bill of Rights, in relation to the liability limits under the Montreal Convention” Ceb. Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Atty. Jr Mantaring said. “However, Ms. Ambani refused out offer. We sincerely apologized for any inconvenience this situation may have caused.” he added.
Meanwhile, the compensation is not enough to cover the total amount of what the bag contained thus Lourdes is eager to know the reason behind her lost luggage. The staff couldn’t give her definite answers. She is also asking for the understanding from the management and proper course of action must be taken.
