Overseas Filipino Workers need to acquire Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) for proper documentation and protection as well. But it seems like getting OEC’s validated is becoming tougher than ever!
Don Michael De Leon, one of the many OFWs affected by the problem, was able to take a video of the airport situation.
Hundreds of OFWs complained about long and disorderly lines just to get validation of their OECs. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) was able to provide an online verification system but it was down for unknown reasons since 1st of January. OFWs had no choice but to manually validate their OECs.

Not just that! Only one POEA booth accommodated hundreds of OFWs waiting in queue. As a result, there are about 350 passengers affected by this online system glitch.
It was later announced that the problem was solved after they instructed OFWs to go directly to the Immigration booth. Despite that, there are already a number of OFWs who missed their flights. Others complain of lost baggage while they are on queue.

Even airport police were not helping resolve the issue and even providing worthless advices to just cut into lines.
Chari Sevilla, another OFW, said that she waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to get her OEC validated.
