It’s nice to think that you have a relative working as an Overseas Filipino Worker. You can easily ask them money because they are eventually earning higher compared to their jobs in the Philippines.
Such a common scenario nowadays! Just as the saying goes, “You need to put your self on their shoes to be able to know their experiences”.
Working outside your home country is a tough battle that every OFW need to undergo. You get exposed to other cultures and adjust to it. Homesickness is something not to be taken for granted. Not to mention abusive foreign employers.
Despite all of those, their beneficiaries in the Philippines neglect the sacrifices of their loved ones abroad. They tend to demand money from them and buy unimportant things which are totally unnecessary. Just like this confession of a heartbroken OFW.
Her story was posted online and instantly became viral. She is a nurse in Canada. She already have her husband and children there yet she still supports her siblings and relatives in the Philippines. After all she’s done to help them financially, they still managed to talk hurtful words just because she refused to send money for the car they wanted to buy.
