They thought that upon paying $3,500 for a business class seat, their grandmother will get the best treatment inside the aircraft. But what is far worse than a nightmare.
Paz Orquiza, 94-year-old, is suffering from degenerative bone structure in the neck and severe arthritis. She should be spending her day lying in her bed but she was forced to fly from Melbourne, Australia to Los Angeles for a family reunion. Because they booked for a Business class ticket, her family was convinced that their grandma will receive utmost care.
The flight to Los Angeles was fantastic. As expected, her daughter, who is seating in the economy was allowed to visit her and take care of her needs. But her flight back to Melbourne was totally different. A flight attendant of United Airlines refused to allow grandma’s daughter to enter to Business Class because according to her, “People pay to be in business class.” Worst, her mother was booted to Economy because they can’t assist her needs.
The family complained and requested for investigation. Upon investigation, the airline declared that their flight attendant did not broke any disability regulation as they are not required to give “extensive personal assistance”.
The family were instead given $500 worth of travel voucher and possible ticket refund.via Rachfeed
