President Rodrigo Duterte has sent former consul general to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in order to aid on the efforts to find the missing overseas Filipino worker Diosalyn Seva.
“Find Seva” This was the promise of Pres. Duterte to Sgt. Michael Fabian, brother of the missing OFW. Fabian was one of the wounded soldiers that the president visited in V. Luna hospital last 2016.
“Sometime last year, August 2016, ng dumalaw si president Duterte, sa mga wounded soldiers sa V. Luna hospital, na meet niya itong si Sgt. Michael Joe Fabian. So ang hiniling si Sgt. Michael Fabian, sana matagpuan ang missing sister niya dito sa Saudi Arabia. Nag-commit si president na ipapahanap niya sa Department of Foreign Affairs si Diosalyn Seva,” this was according to the special assistant of the office of migrant workers affairs Moh’d Noordin Pendonsina Lomondot.
Seva was a former high school teacher in one of the schools in Nueva Ecija. Seva’s husband and parents are very much worried because it has already been one year that the OFW have not communicated with her family in the Philippines.
In an interview, her husband said, “Ma, ginawa ko na ang lahat para ma-locate ka. Pumunta na ako sa DFA, OWWA at POEA. Hindi ko na alam ang gagawin ko. Sana ay makipagtulungan ka rin na mahanap ka para matulungan ka ng DFA,”
It was year 2015 when Seva decided to go abroad as domestic helper in Jeddah, but things didn’t turn out well for her. According to one of her siblings’ complaint at the DFA, she was maltreated and was not given just compensation by her employer which forced her to flee, and since then have never been heard of again.
She was still able to communicate with her family last February 2016, and was still able to send money last March 2016. This was her last contact with her family.
“Hello, Diosalyn. Kumusta ka na anak ko? Sana tumawag ka naman sa akin dito kasi, nag-aalala na ako sa iyo. Isang taon ka ng wala, hindi ka man lang tumatawag. Maaring tawagan mo naman ako?” as quoted from her mother Lourdes Fabian.
