After being tormented and abused, this Filipino nurse in Saudi Arabia was forced to escape from his employer’s home. The government promised to help him repatriate back to the Philippines as soon as possible.
Pinoy nurse Ronald Magcawas documented how his employer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia physically abused him. He showed wounds and scars all over his body.
According to GMA News, Magcawas worked as a nurse in a private house in Riyadh but he never thought that his employer will treat him cruelly.
“Aside from the common abuse, my employer also spits on my face and beats me in the head using a wood,” confessed the OFW. He was forced to remove his hair and become bald because his employer sometimes pulls his hair.
It was January when he first started work. Magcawas endured all the physical abuse and hurtful words from his employer for months.
Magcawas also said that he tried to ask for help from his agency but he failed to receive one. Luckily, when he had the chance to escape, he immediately went to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh just this Monday to report the abuse he suffered. His statements were immediately documented and he did a medical examination.
According to Department of Labor and Employment Undersecretary Dominador Say, they will sue the recruitment agency of Magcawas once proven of their negligence.
DOLE also made sure that the abused OFW will be sent home to the Philippines as soon as possible.
As of the moment, his recruitment agency has not issued their statement over the case of Magcawas.
