Good News to all Overseas Filipino Workers planning to exit the country. You won’t have to secure Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) according to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Bello said that instead of OECs, they will be given an OFW ID.
“By the end of this month, mai-implement na yung programa ng DOLE na I-DOLE, identification card ng DOLE o ng Department of Labor and Employment,” statement of Bello in a Facebook video during an interview with Presidential Communications Office Assistance Secretary Mocha Uson on Monday.

“Pag mayroon na kayo n’un, ‘yon na ang substitute ng OEC. Hindi niyo na kailangan mag-apply pa ng OEC,” Bello added.
Previously, OEC was an important requirement for an OFW to get out of the country. Many OFWs believe that OEC is not necessary and it is just a way to extort money from them.
OFW ID can be acquired at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) office.
“Lahat ng mga OFW bibigyan namin sila ng ID. Libre ‘yan, walang cost to the Filipino migrant workers,” Bello explained.
The government will also launch the I-DOLE program this coming July.
This is such a great news to all OFWs especially to those who finds OEC a total hassle. Secure your OFW ID now and enjoy its benefits.
