A lot of stories have been written and published about OFWs who were maltreated by employers and those who suffered hard enough in the hands of their abusive employers.
This story shows the other side, where an OFW commits a sin which surely, she will not think of doing again in her remaining life.
A Filipina overseas worker in Hong Kong whose name was not mentioned in a news published by Inquirer, was arrested by authorities for stealing clothes from her employer.
The 41-year-old Pinay who worked as a domestic helper drove suspicion from security guards of her employer’s villa on Repulse Bay Road after she was seen carrying a big nylon bag.
The security guards who became curious of knowing what’s inside the helper’s bag approached her and checked on the bag. The guards was able to spot 50 pieces of women’s clothing which has an estimated cost of around HK$ 30,000 (P 191,630.00).
Being able to establish the fact that the OFW had stolen these clothes, the Pinay has been arrested.
It was learned that prior to this incident, she was also arrested because of eating her employer’s food.
As of Press time, no follow-up report has been published as to what happened to the unnamed domestic helper. Whether she was put behind bars or was just given pardon by her employers, facts were still unknown.
But one thing is for sure, that this OFW will surely regret what she did for the rest of her life.
