In a recent news from South China Post as reported by ABS-CBN News, the Hong Kong government has raised the minimum wage income of domestic helpers working in their country benefiting around 350,000 overseas workers who half of which were Filipinos.
Effective on Saturday, newly hired domestic helpers will be receiving a monthly salary of HK4,410 (P 27,730) which will be reflected in the employment contract which they will be signing.
However, for those currently employed, the Immigration Department will process the salary adjustment so that their compensation will be modified, accordingly. Said applications should be submitted to their office not later than October 27.
Meanwhile, the meal allowance given to the workers as included in the contract will also be increased from HK$1,037 ( P6,700) to HK$1,053
(P 6,850) per month.
The said salary increase serves as an opportunity for the Filipino workers to be able to receive a much rewarding income from working abroad.
It was noted that the last salary adjustment made by Hong Kong prior to their recent adjustment was last September of 2016.
