A Filipino carwash worker was sentenced by the Eastern Court in Hong Kong with 21 days in jail for allegedly touching the private part of a woman from Wong Tai Sin while inside the train. Though the 45-year old Filipino denied the accusations against him, the Court had sided on the complainant whom the Court found as an honest and credible witness.
According to THE SUN, on July 28, a Hong Kong local woman rode a Chai Wan bound train in Wan Chai Station. Upon entering the station, she was busy playing with her mobile phone when suddenly, she felt something had bumped her private part and felt pain later on. When she looked down, she discovered that a Filipino named Billy Vega had allegedly touched her as she saw his right fist with his palm facing upward plunging her private part.
She immediately confronted Vega and asked him why he touched her. As she did not get any response from him, he threatened him saying, “If you don’t answer, I will press the emergency button” but then, he did not say even a single word and had remained silent.
The woman pressed the red button and had MTR staff waiting for them the time they alighted at Fortress Hill Station. Vega was arrested on that very moment and was charged with indecent assault. However, he pleaded not guilty so the case went into trial.
During the court hearing, the defense counsel of Vega claimed that the incident was unintentional and had only happened after he was pushed by another passenger from behind causing him to lurch and touch the woman accidentally. But then, the woman refuted what they claimed and said that during that time, 10:40am, the train was not jam packed, thus; their statement was unbelievable.
So on October 24, upon hearing both sides, Magistrate Peter Hui pronounced Vega to be guilty and sentenced him with 21 days inside the jail for indecent assault.
