Cebu Pacific Supports President Duterte’s Request to Fly Home OFWs from Kuwait
Cebu Pacific heeds President Duterte’s request for help from local airlines to provide flights for OFW from Kuwait who wanted to return to the Philippines. This was expressed by Duterte on Friday as he grieves over the recent deaths of Filipino workers in Kuwait.
On Saturday, Cebu Pacific would send one of its planes to Kuwait to bring home those who are willing to go back to the Philippines.
In a statement made by a representative, Cebu Pacific has been coordinating already with the Philippine Embassy and the Department of Foreign Affairs
Regarding travel arrangements with the workers who wanted to repatriate.
“Cebu Pacific will be mounting a special flight to Kuwait to assist our kababayans who wish to be repatriated to the Philippines.”
Apparently, more than 800 undocumented OFWs in Kuwait are to be sent home per DFA’s record. They will be repatriated in groups starting Sunday until Tuesday.
President Duterte ordered Depart of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III to facilitate the repatriation of the OFWs within 72 hours.
