An OFW slammed accusations towards her employers in Saudi Arabia after allegedly maltreating her, reported by GMA News.
In a video which was posted online, a certain Rose experienced continuous verbal abuse for her Saudi national employers, ever since she started work in June 2017.
Aside from the verbal abuse, she was also not being fed well, pushed to work more than eight hours per day and her male employer even pointed a gun against her.
“Pag pasok niya dun sa may tapat ng kusina nanakatay oako, tinutukan niyaa ko ng baril,” Rose recounted as she fears her life following the incident.
Rose was also detained inside her employer’s house. She was able to ask for assistance from her agency in the Philippined but they didn’t believed her. Instead they asked her to pay P200,000 if she really wants to return home.
“Ayoko dito ako mawalan ng hininga,” Rose said. “Sabi ko ang bata ko pa, wala naman akong ginagawang masamasa kanila.”
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is already helping Rose against her case.
Saudi Arabia is home to thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers. It is also tagged as one of the top destinations of migrant workers all over the world. There are already an alarming number of Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia who are being maltreated by their employers or their salaries are not given to them. Most of these workers, end up asking for help from the Philippine Embassy or end up going home penniless.
