“This ID should be free.”
This is the cry of a party-list lawmaker as he accused the Department of Labor and Employment of utilizing the OFW ID as a source of funds.
ACTS-OFW party-list Aniceto Beriz III said in an interview that DOLE is allegedly selling the OFW ID for P720.00. He also claimed that their group donated the OFW cards as a way of expressing gratitude to President Duterte.
He also claims that the ID is useless and “not a functional card.”
“Dagdag basura lang sa wallet,” Bertiz claims.
The party-list leader also accused Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Kris Ablan of spreading falls rumors against him.
Moreover, the release of OFW ID was placed on hold after Bello learned that individuals from DOLE, in and outside their office, wants to deliberately earn from it.
“Merong nag-alok ng pera para diyan. Pinaghahatian. Sabi ko alam mo, itong iDOLE Card para sa OFW, dapat walang gastos ang gobyerno at dapat walang gastos ang OFW. Kaya kung ganyan ang plano niyo, mabuti pa scrap natin. Which I did,” Bello said.
“Scrap natin ito until we can find a system that will provide an I-DOLE Card to our OFWs at no expense to the government and especially at no expense to our OFWs.”
