Nothing is more precious than working with a kind-hearted and generous employer.
We’ve heard so many horror stories of OFWs getting abused and unfairly treated by their foreign employers. Others even end up losing their lives while working abroad to provide the needs of their families in the Philippines.
However, a huge percentage of Filipinos working abroad are being treated fairly by their employers, some are even lucky enough to be showered with gifts and cash as a gesture of kindness offered by their employers.
Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Mhai, San Pedro was lucky enough to receive luxurious gifts from her employer including bags, shoes, and cash amounting to Dh34,000 (PhP500,000) so she can build her dream house in the Philippines.
These bags and shoes are not to be underestimated as they are from famous brands like Burberry, Tory Burch, Michael Kors and Gucci. Even the treatment of her daughter who has an illness was shouldered by her employers.
According to Mhai, she was thankful that she met such employers who treated her nicely like she was part of their family.
Mhai, 31 and a mother of three, just wanted to build a decent house for her children as they were just living in a shanty. In addition to their already pitiful situation, Mhai’s youngest daughter was born with a pulmonary disease, creating a mounting debt for her to pay.
Most of Mhai’s income was spent for her medication as her daughter’s disease require constant hospital visits. Because of the difficult life she had in the Philippines, Mhai decided to work abroad.
Mhai is working for the family for 8 months only yet they already treated her as part of the family. At times, her employers would give her 2,500 Saudi riyals (PhP35,466) for the construction of her house in Pulilan, Bulacan.
When her daughter was hospitalized, the entire family of her employer, including their relatives contributed money for her daughter’s medicine.
“Everyone in the family contributed – including their relatives. I felt hopeless that time and was in surprised when they gave me money for my daughter – I was overjoyed,” says Mhai.
Because of the good treatment that the Arab family offered to Mhai, she vowed to offer the best service for the entire family.
