Filipina is very angry after a staff of the Philippine Embassy in Dubai cursed her.
In a viral video, Joy Parafina poured her anger after a welfare officer cursed her for complaining about the relief assistance given by the agency.
According to Joy Parafina, she was forced to go live after a welfare officer in the Philippine Embassy Dubai named Dan Flores called her names after complaining of the relief assistance from the agency.
“Ito baang welfare office nailalagay ng gobyerno?” Joy angrily said.
Joy said that she came from Westzone, a local supermarket that sells Filipino food in Dubai, to claim the food assistance from OWWA amounting to DH200. When she arrived there, Joy was given two 5kg sack of rice and a small box. It is said that the content of the box and the 10 kgs of rice all worth DH200. But couldn’t believe it. Personnel at the supermarket cannot give a receipt as proof and insisted that it all costs 200 dirhams.
Joy didn’t agree to bring the food assistance and the staff only said that they are only giving what was ‘donated’ for the OFWs. The box was also from the Philippine Embassy which was only sent to them.
The OFW was angered by the fact that she couldn’t claim the assistance which was released by the government and even received curses from the mean welfare officer of the Philippine Embassy.
As of the moment, the welfare officer is suspended from his work and investigation is being made to clear out the misunderstanding.
Following the viral video of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Dubai who went berserk after her encounter with a welfare officer in the Philippine Embassy, Labor chief Silvestre Bello III ordered that the welfare officer be suspended from work as the investigation is pushed through.
According to the directive of Secretary Bello, he placed welfare officer Danilo Flores of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Dubai on suspension for alleged misconduct. Flores will also undergo culpability for his alleged misbehavior in dealing with OFWs.
“The investigation followed an incident that transpired on April 16 between an OFW and welfare officer Flores which went viral on Facebook,” says Bello. “The said incident occurred in the course of the distribution of the OWWA food aid package for OFWs in Dubai and the Northern Emirates who have been displaced by the ongoing COVID-19.”
As an investigation is taking place, Flores is suspended from work as a welfare officer. Bello made sure that the department will continue to provide welfare and assistance for OFWs.
The suspended welfare officer is yet to release his side of the story.
Meanwhile, the OFW who posted her complaint on Facebook has been receiving encouragement and support from netizens.
One netizen said that there is a lot of welfare officers just like Danilo Flores, who can’t treat OFWs very well, not just in Dubai but all over the world.
