The case of JeanelynVillavende, the Filipina who lost her life in the hands of her Kuwaiti employers, has become a hot topic, arising a decision from the Philippine government to implement a total deployment ban of Filipino workers to Kuwait. Her employers were imprisoned but recently requested bail for their release.
Kuwait’s Criminal Court decided to reject the plea of the Kuwaiti couple to be released on bail after they were imprisoned after accusations that they took the life and badly treated a Filipina domestic helper inside their home.
According to the report submitted regarding the case of Villavende, the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior was alerted after the emergency medical unit in Al-Sabal Hospital reported that a Filipina householdworker was taken to the hospital by her employer but was soon declared expired upon his arrival. Bruises were also found all over her body which indicates that she could have suffered before she passed away.
“The forensics report revealed that the victim was a citizen of the Philippines, and her passing was attributed to the bruises she sustained,” as reported by Arab Times, a local news outlet.
After that, officers detained the suspects who are the employers of the Filipina maid, later confessing that the female employer beat the Filipina until she collapsed and lost consciousness.
The forensic report in the Philippines also confirmed that the maid really suffered badly before she passed
