A Labor group condemns the ‘garbage-like treatment’ of the government towards Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) repatriated due to the COVID-19 crisis. Malacanang has a response to it.
In a statement by the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, he insisted that the government is offering nothing but “VIP treatment” to returning Filipinos.

“Inuwi po natin lahat ng manggagawa natin. Binigyan namin ng libreng PCR testing, binigyan natin ng libreng pamasahe sa eroplano, sa bus, at sa barko. Hindi po ‘yan garbage-like treatment. VIP treatment po ‘yan,” says Harry Roque.
Labor Group Migrante International once condemned the “ineptitude” management of the government towards returning OFWs who had to be quarantined due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“More than a month after being stuck in NCR (National Capital Region), OFWs complain that they are being dumped like garbage in Metro Manila’s airport terminals,” says Migrante International.
“It cannot be denied that our repatriated kababayans are being made to feel the maximum brunt of the Duterte regime’s ineptitude.”
Migrante International also said that the OFWs that they encountered in the airport are famished and had to wait for their flights to their provinces like “outcasts”. Meals also arrived late and OFWs were left penniless as they have waited and stranded in Manila for a month waiting for medical services as well as their financial aid.
