The Filipina domestic helper who was a victim of human trafficking in America for 60 years passed away.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Los Angeles, California rescued 81-year old NanayFedelina who was treated like a slave for 6 decades. Her salaries were also not given to her all those years.
After her successful rescue, Nanay Fedelina was taken by the Filipina Workers Center that lends a helping hand to victims of human trafficking. NanayFedelina then became an advocate in fighting against human trafficking.
Just this March, after 40 years, Nanay Fedelina finally got the chance to see her family from the Philippines. The meeting was very emotional and even got the chance to joke. They were together for 10 days in Los Angeles.
In a Facebook post, her granddaughter sent her thanks to the people that helped reunite her family. They didn’t know that it was their last chance to see Nanay Fedelina.
NanayFedelina was waiting for a human trafficking visa to return to the Philippines and visit her relatives. But she passed away waiting for it.
Nanay Fedelina passed away at the age of 83, at Long Beach California due to respiratory disease.
