No matter what country you go to, presenting a fake document is a crime punishable by law. A Filipino gambled her reputation and bought fake documents to Malaysia.
The 38-year-old Filipina was sentenced to 20 months of imprisonment by the Magistrate Court for 20 months after she bought fake identification worth RM5,000 (approx.. 58,534).
The Filipina was identified as Rowena Llenado who plead guilty in front of Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie. The Filipina admitted to faking her identification card with the number 820728-12-6006.
The Filipina’s dubious activities were busted after an inspection conducted by the National Registration Department (NRD) saw the documents of Rowena. They found out that it was fake as both her thumbprints were not found in their records.
When asked where she got the fake documents, Rowena confessed that she acquired them from the uncle of her husband in exchange for some money. The Filipina will be referred to Malaysia’s Immigration Department after serving her entire sentence.
Rowena’s counsel PJ Perira requested leniency on the sentence of Rowena as the accused is a single mother with three children who are solely relying on her financial support.
