A Singaporean youth has been sentenced to six months under reformative training after he threw a metal mug into a Filipina domestic helper, causing her to sustain a fracture on her nose and some parts of her face.
Accused Ng Jia Sheng, 20, will have to undergo a strict regimen which includes counseling and foot drills while he stays at the center.
Last June, the Singaporean pleaded guilty of using criminal force to OFW Estabillo Soledad Agustin last 2018 and causing extreme hurt thru his rash act. The youth also admitted to saying insulting words into the Filipina which further causes alarm. This act is a clear offense stated at the Protection from Harassment Act.
According to the court records, the confrontation between Ng and Agustin happened inside the house of the OFW’s employer at Greenwood Avenue, just near Dunearn Road last June 7, 2018.
It is said that Ng asked the Filipina to turn on the air-conditioner but the OFW allegedly answered in “an irritated manner”. They got into an argument and Agustin turned on the air conditioner but threw the controller.
“During the altercation, the accused told the victim that she was only a maid, was poor and had no right to be in Singapore,” says Deputy Public Prosecutor Zhou Yihong.
After that, the OFW went to the kitchen but Ng followed her. It was then that the youth flung a metal mug on Agustin’s face causing injury.
