90,000 foreigners will be given a chance to acquire permanent residency in line with the new immigration policy of Canada. Filipinos who are in Canada now will benefit from this policy.
Gladys went to Canada last 2018 to study. After finishing her studies, Gladys got a post-graduate work permit and worked at a chemical manufacturing company.
And because the work of Gladys is considered ‘essential’, her work pushed through despite the pandemic. And because she already experienced a good life in Canada, she wants to continue working in the country and become a permanent resident.
The good news is, Gladys is qualified to apply for a permanent residency under the new immigration policy in Canada which will start on May 6.
It is expected that 90,000 foreigners will be given a permanent residency in Canada including Filipinos who became international students and worked in the country legally.
According to the Canadian embassy in the Philippines, there are three ways to get a permanent residency in Canada.
- For international students
- Individuals who completed a post-secondary program in Canada.
- Individuals employed in the healthcare sector in Canada and other essential works who served Canada in the midst of the pandemic. They need to have a work permit and not self-employed.
The program is granted to foreigners in Canada and not those who already returned to the Philippines or those who are still going to Canada.
Meanwhile, POEA sent a reminder not to fall prey to scammers who will try to extort money from unsuspecting Filipinos.
