Bruises are all over the body of a Filipina domestic helper. The perpetrator? Her employer in Hong Kong.
The Filipina was identified only as 36-year-old Eden P. She endured the abuse of her employer for 14 long months. But on Sunday, May 30, Eden managed to escape from her employer’s house and went directly into the Shatin office, the location of her agency.
After finding a safe place to stay, Eden confessed that her employer never allowed her to leave the house in Serenade Cove, across Tsuen Wan ever since she arrived in March 2020.

Throughout her employment, she received different kinds of abuses including being slapped, punched, and scratched. Her female employer also hit her with hard objects.
On Eden’s thighs, there are two contusions and another one is found on her belly. These two are proof of the abuse suffered by the Filipina. These contusions were the result of her employer hitting her with a frying pan five times last May 25. Before the hitting of the pan happened, Eden was slapped by her employer 15 times, on both sides of her face. The employer got angry at Eden because her 19-month-old baby cried loudly and failed to finish the congee.

Eden also suffered scratch marks on her back and throughout her upper body. Nicks was also found on her back and side.
Eden found a chance to escape and went to her agency before going to the Shatin Police to file a complaint.
