Two Overseas Filipino Workers were barred from leaving the Philippines after it was found out that their travel documents are fake.
According to GMA News, these OFWs were supposedly going to the United Arab Emirates when the personnel from the Bureau of Immigration as well as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) intercepted them.
One OFW faked her RT-PCR test results and Overseas Employment Certificate.
“Umamin naman na hindi siya dumaan sa swab test. Iniimbestigahan namin kasi gusto naming mahuli kung sino ‘yong nagbigay ng pekeng dokumento sa kaniya,” says Ruel Dugayon of the NBI International Airport Investigation Division.
The other OFW used her sibling’s name on her passport because she happened to be underage.
“Ang ginamit niyang birth certificate [to secure the passport] ay birth certificate ng kapatid niya para ma-qualify siya kasi ang edad ng pasaherong papuntang Saudi Arabia ay 23 years old. Underage pa siya,” says Dugayon.
The two OFWs will be facing charges of falsification of documents as well as a violation of the Philippine Passport Act.
