Different countries have their own set of rules and resident and visitors need to follow them accordingly. Recently, in Hong Kong, a Filipina was placed in a tight spot after another Hong Kong ID was found in her possession. She now has to prove that she is not involved in any violations to continue with her employment in the country.
A Filipina keeping her friend’s Hong Kong ID will stand trial for illegally possessing an HKID that doesn’t belong to another person.
The defendant identified only as M.K. Maing went to the court to plead not guilty in front of Eastern Court Magistrate Andrew Mok.
According to the prosecution, they will be able to present three witnesses while the defense counsel will locate the owner of the HKID to testify on the defendant’s side.
On May 12, Maing was arrested at a spot check when officers found two Hong Kong IDs on her possession. Additionally, she was also charged for overstaying her visa. But the overstaying charged was proven wrong after Maing proved that she was only waiting for the release of her new employment visa.
The breach of condition was dropped on Aug 23 while the owner of the HKID is still being located.
