In Hong Kong, a woman was found lying on the upper terrace and was suspected to be lifeless.
A resident informed Hong Kong police of a woman who was seen lying and could have fallen from a height. When the information was confirmed by the Hong Kong police, it was found out that the woman passed away at the scene.
Later on, the woman was identified as a Filipino, 27-year-old, according to the information provided on her HK identification card (HKID). On Nov. 30, she checked into a hotel and was never heard of since then.
During the preliminary investigation, HK police didn’t find any traces of suicide nor a suicide note to confirm it. However, the Filipina could have fallen from the rooftop of the hotel, which is just next to the site where the body was found.
There were several belongings of the Filipina that were used to verify the cause of her death as the case is still undergoing investigation. Further information is expected to be given soon.
According to the recent update, the 27-year old Filipina works as a domestic helper and arrived in Hong Kong four months ago. The information was taken from Welfare Officer Virsie Tamayao from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
OWWA will be providing assistance to the next of kin of the victim as she is still an active member when the incident happened. They will receive burial assistance and funeral assistance amounting to PhP120,000. The family of the Filipina will also receive mandatory assistance as mandated by her first two years of employment.
