The grieving daughter of an Overseas Filipino Worker in Hong Kong is crying for justice after her mother was murdered inside their house in Palawan.
“Her life was a blessing. Her memory is a treasure. She was loved beyond words and missed beyond measure” – these are the words of the daughter of OFW Maria Nancy Vega Fegarido, a permanent Hong Kong resident.
Aniana Alia, daughter of the murdered Filipina, together with her siblings sought the help of the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong following their mother’s passing which occurred in Taytay, Palawan, an incident that occurred inside their house.
According to reports, the incident took place when the victim was video calling her friend at around 6:30 on November 15. The gunman, who remains unknown, called the name of the victim and said that something is wrong with her car. When she went out, the victim was shot in the head and died instantly.
The friend of Fegarido heard the shooting and also saw a man wearing a black jacket and a baseball cap through the camera of her phone. The friend immediately called for help from the children of the victim to state what happened.
The local police arrived at the scene and they were able to recover two empty bullets and the gun which was used on the crime. The phone of the victim was missing but other than that, nothing else was taken.
“We are hoping that this report would actually put pressure on Palawan officials to look thoroughly into the investigation,” says the daughter of the victim.
“Nais naming humingi ng tulong para makamit ang hustisya. Gusto naming maliwanagan ang pangyayari,” says the Fegarido siblings.
Their parents decided to settle down in Palawan after 20 years of working abroad.
