Two Filipinos are currently facing charges of hurting their wards in Hong Kong.
Myra Novico Villanueva released a guilty plea when asked whether she actually hurt her 5-month old ward inside the house of her employer in Kowloon City.
Villanueva was immediately sentenced to two months imprisonment for maltreating her ward. But because she already got imprisoned since October when she was arrested, Villanueva was eventually released.
According to reports, the employer of Villanueva and the mother of her ward woke up in the middle of the night because she heard her child crying. Right then, she saw Villanueva hitting the poor child.
When they watched the CCTV footage inside the room, they saw the Filipino shaking the baby before throwing the child into the bed. The baby was taken into a private hospital. Fortunately, she didn’t suffer any physical damage.
When asked about the incident, Villanueva said that the baby refuses to sleep, prompting her to do the abuse. She was immediately taken to the precinct and was never allowed to leave.
Supposedly, Villanueva will be spending three months in prison but because she admitted to her crime, she was given a lesser sentence.
On a separate occasion, Rachel Sevilla Lopez pleaded ‘not guilty’ on accusations that she mistreated her 16-year-old ward in San Po Kong. However, there was CCTV footage of the incident to prove her crime. The trial for this case is set for March 22.
